Setup / Installation:
The Autodesk Animation Player is installed as an MCI driver. Nautilus Setup will copy the necessary files to your Windows system directory and make the appropriate updates to your SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI files (see below for specifics).
Alternately, the Autodesk Animation Player may be installed using your Windows Drivers Control Panel which you can open by clicking the "Setup ..." button on the Nautilus Setup page, or at any time by opening the Control Panel from Program Manager. Once you've opened the Drivers applet, you install the driver as you do any other driver:
In the Installed Drivers list box, click Add.
Select "Unlisted or Updated Driver" from the list box and click OK.
Enter the directory path where the driver is located. In this case, you can enter:
D:\AUTODESK
where you should replace the 'D' with the appropriate letter for your CD ROM Drive (assuming this Nautilus disc is in the drive). Or, click the Browse button to select the appropriate directory.
A dialog box appears from which you can select the available drivers. Select the drivers you want to install and click OK.
System Modifications:
The Autodesk MCI driver and support DLLs are added to your Windows\System directory, including MCIAAP.DRV, AAPLAY.DLL, and AAVGA.DLL. The driver is added to the [mci] section of your SYSTEM.INI file as "Animation1" and associates Animator files in the [mci extensions] section in your WIN.INI as in the following:

Nautilus is installed using this Setup book. Nautilus requires about 1.5MB free available on your hard disk on which to install the Nautilus Startup and Link books, ToolBook runtime, MediaBlitz! runtime, and other necessary files.
System Modifications:
Sets a file association for .TBK files to the application TBOOK.EXE in the Nautilus directory, if such an association does not already exist.
Copies the Visual Basic runtime DLLs (VBRUN100.DLL, VBRUN200.DLL, VBRUN300.DLL) to your Windows directory, if necessary.
Also note that other options available from the Nautilus Setup book may make modifications to your system. Click the help button next to each option for additional information.

Upgrade Notes:
If you are UPGRADING Nautilus from a previous version, you may wish to install to a different directory than the one where your current setup resides. This way, you have a backup version to go to and you do not carry over unnecessary files.
Also note that it may not be necessary to install each option available from within the Nautilus Setup book. For example, you may not need to install VfW (Video for Windows) if you have already previously done so (from a previous disc, for example).
If you select the "Update Nautilus Directory" several files will be deleted that are no longer deleted. These files are related to the previous version of ScorePlayer and include:

As a Nautilus subscriber, you will come to expect the "latest-greatest" features that inform, entertain, and educate you (and, if nothing else, they justify all that time and effort you spend on your computer...!).
As a result, in addition to the Nautilus runtime files, you will also have the option to install other software drivers or runtime players which will
extend the capabilities of your system. For example, on this disc, you will find the Microsoft Video for Windows and QuickTime for Windows runtime software, which is everything you need to be able to play digital videos from within the Nautilus Shell or Media Player. Also, you'll find ScorePlayer - which you can use to play "shows" created with Asymetrix's MediaBlitz! multimedia presentation package.
So... what do you need to do to get started exploring everything Nautilus has to offer?
1. Install the Nautilus runtime files to a directory on your hard disk.
2. If necessary, install the additional runtime software available directly from Nautilus*.
To do this, just go to the next page and click the appropriate buttons to install the files you need.

This release of Nautilus features the runtime software and playback of QuickTime for Windows 1.1. This latest release from Apple Computer enables you to play QuickTime movies and view QuickTime pictures. Once installed, you will be able to play QuickTime movies just like any other multimedia device such as sound, MIDI, or Video for Windows files, from the Nautilus Shell or from other applications that support
support MCI (Microsoft's "Media Control Interface"), such as Media Player.
Also, a few other updates have been incorporated into this latest release. Digital movies, such as VfW or QT, are now played back directly in the Nautilus Shell (as opposed to using Media Player). And, you may notice some "preview" movies that introduce you to the content of a section. Look for pages with a movie icon (on 3-6, for example, you will see preview movies in the Photography & Images and Music & Sound sections).
On the setup page, be sure to run the install procedures for both Nautilus and QuickTime for Windows. If you have not already installed Video for Windows, run that setup process, too.
